The New iPhone 12

Apple will present the iPhone 12 at a keynote presentation on September 15, 2020. This year, Apple has confirmed that the release of the iPhone 12 will be postponed by a few weeks due to coronavirus. Moreover, persistent rumors seem to confirm a partial launch of the range with another event set for early 2021, just a few months later.
 

On September 15th, the firm should present the “all-in-one” bundles that would take the name “Apple One”.They would include Music and TV + and other services would be added as needed: News +, iCloud, Arcade, and mysterious fitness service. Tim Cook’s firm is also reportedly announcing its first headphones with active noise reduction, AirPods Studio, AirTags, iPad Air 4, and a new Apple Watch. 
 

How much would it cost?

Despite abandoning the charger and headphones included in the box, Apple is expected to increase the price of the iPhone 12. The latest reports on the subject indeed speak of an increase from $ 50 to $ 100. This increase is mainly due to the integration of 5G and OLED displays on all models. Here are the prices that have recently appeared on the web:
 

  • iPhone 12 Mini - from 699 or 749 dollars
  • iPhone 12 - from $ 799 or $ 849
  • iPhone 12 Pro - from $ 1,049 or $ 1,099
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max - from $ 1,149 or $ 1,199
     

There is also reportedly an iPhone 12s which could be a 4G model - but the precise information on its spec sheet remains incomplete to date.
 

Improved photosensors

Apple is expected to improve its photosensors again this year. Apple would bet on 12-megapixel photo sensors larger than those of the iPhone 11.The company would therefore ignore the 64-megapixel module mentioned by some leaks. The latest rumors speak of clear progress in terms of depth of field detection thanks to a ToF module renamed LiDAR scanner as on the new iPad Pro 2020. This module would be reserved for the iPhone 12 Pro and supplied by Sony.
 

This feature is essential, for example, in Portrait modes as well as for generating precise blurring around a subject, the famous Bokeh effect. The smartphone could thus carry on its back a 3D laser sensor or another type of component capable of establishing an accurate map of the depth of field. In addition, whatever its sensors and optics, the smartphone should benefit from better image processing thanks to its new SoC that is expected to be muscular.
